KONE is a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry, and our job is to make the world’s cities better and more sustainable places to live.
We are over 60,000 unique people, representing some 150 nationalities in over 60 countries. We are committed to making KONE a great place to work and a safe space for everyone to be their true self.
During 2020, we assessed the D&I maturity in over 50 KONE country organizations and reviewed existing D&I policies and practices. Based on the findings, we created our global D&I strategy with a number of global goals as well as a roadmap.
On March 8, 2021, we made a public pledge to systematically increase diversity, inclusion and equity at KONE. The pledge builds on the great work we have already been doing to develop our values, culture and sustainability in our businesses. This is an area where we want to make a step-change during the next four years.
We are committed to strengthening our policies and practices to be LGBTIQ+ inclusive, while simultaneously reviewing and updating our people processes in regard to diversity and inclusion related aspects.
We are still in the beginning of our journey in improving LGBTIQ+ inclusion. Our initial actions have focused on training our leaders on all aspects of D&I and building awareness around LGBTIQ+ inclusion throughout the organization. We are also conducting a global inclusion survey in 2021 and establishing guidelines for Employee Resource Groups. The survey results will be helpful in identifying development areas and prioritizing our actions.
We are very grateful for all the support we have already received from Workplace Pride and are looking forward to learning how other globally operating companies have planned their actions around LGBTIQ+ inclusion.
